Wild Mustangs Of The North American West

Our Rescued Horses In Texas

Diana Shaffner, orgininally from Bavaria, and her husband George, are both passionate members of Gut Aiderbichl. At their farm "Rising Sun Ranch" located just outside of Abilene, Texas, they have created a place for horses rescued from abuse and neglect. Even to the philosophy of Gut Aiderbichl, any animal accepted into their program has truly found a "place for good" - in other words, a home for the rest of life.

During a springtime auction, Diana and George saved three horses for Gut Aiderbichl. Wild mustangs "Aby" and "Little Sunshine" and Tennessee Walker "Charlie Boy". All three of them were in a very sad condition. "We just had to help them", Diana says today.

On October 10 of 2009 the "Texan Gut Aiderbichl Family" grew even bigger! "Molly", a 4 year old Belgian bred mare, joined the Rising Sun Ranch Team. She was found advertised on the internet for next to nothing. The untrained and health wise very neglected horse would have never had a chance to find a good home. Now, she is heading into a bright and exciting future...

For Aiderbichl, these four horses are just a small beginning. We believe that we can give a better understanding of the present situation of mustangs in the US to the European Public. We welcome every comment in regards to the latest developments concerning 30.000 mustangs living in holding pens, facing an unsecure future. Will a solution for these poor horses be found - or will they be put down?

In seems to be a fact, that only few people are interested in buying a mustang (approx. $125) to save at least one life. We believe that mustangs belong to America and that there is still enough land for both - humans and mustangs. Please write to international@gut-aiderbichl.com if you have any news.
